The National Building Code of Canada 2005 and Accepted Changes for 2010
A new seminar that focuses on:
- Information on new requirements that will be in the NBC 2010
- Useability of new Code format
- Application of Part 3 requirements to a range of occupancy types
- A proven method for implementing Alternative (or Performance-Based) Acceptable Solutions
This two-day seminar has been developed based on the interest in previous seminars on:
- Part 3 of the National Building Code of Canada, and
- Objective-Based Codes and Performance-Based Solutions
That have been delivered over the past few years. This educational workshop will involve individual and group participation in applying fundamental requirements in Part 3. The format will be different; there will be a structured workshop environment with constant interaction between Part 3 requirements from the new NBC 2005 and actual prepared drawings.
Participants will be provided with information on the new Code structure and use. Commonly used information in Part 3 will be presented, followed by training on the development of Alternative Acceptable Solutions. Scale drawings will be provided. Participants will review the drawings for compliance with Part 3. This plan review exercise will identify deficiencies and will serve to educate participants on the many requirements in Part 3. The workshops will move from plan reviews to design. Conceptual building designs will be developed into more defined designs. Participants will consider the applicable options for compliance with Part 3.
Who Should Attend
The workshop will be of interest to anyone who uses Part 3 of the NBC as well as similar provincial building codes including building officials, fire prevention officers, contractors, architects, interior designers, engineers, insurance inspectors or building owners.
